The Generator Founders Program Cohort 2
1 – Founders Program

If you have been sitting on an idea for some time or have a startup that needs a bit of a boost, we highly recommend you join our 2021 Generator Founders Program.
The Founders Course is a practical, video-based online course to show you how to start a startup and maximise its chances of success. For startup founders with global ambitions, and anyone with an idea for a startup.
In addition to the world class content, you will also be invited to our weekly sessions (online and in-person) to discuss each week’s learning, gain insights from others, as well as make amazing local connections with fellow entrepreneurs.

The Generator Founders Course is held in partnership with Startup Onramp
The Hinkler Innovation Awards celebrate an individual making a local, national, and/or global contribution to innovation. The award exists to inspire the same pioneering spirit of Bundaberg-born innovator and adventurer Bert Hinkler.
Birthed, developed, established in 2018 as the brainchild of Morgahna Godwin from Benson Press, the Hinkler Innovation Award is an ode to Bert Hinkler in the beginning stages of his aviation exploration. It is important that the local entrepreneur community, through The Generator, delivers this award to, activate, unite, encourage and foster an innovative and collaborative local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Hinkler Innovation Awards are open to all Australian Residents.
The Junior Hinkler Innovation Award celebrates a young individual or group of individuals making a local, national, and/or global contribution to innovation.
The award exists to inspire the same pioneering spirit of Bundaberg-born innovator and adventurer Bert Hinkler.
The Junior Hinkler Innovation Award is open for community nominations.

Every day, new technological tools appear, and all business owners use some tech tools daily. But still, they have some blind spots in understanding how technology works. At the same time, there are many techies that are passionate about technology and wishing to share their knowledge but having difficulties communicating and dealing effectively with the world of business. This phenomenon builds a gap between the “business” point of view and the “technological” point of view.
In this Lunch and Learn Dmitry will discuss the communication gap that prevents effective collaboration between the business world and the technology world. Dmitry will try to bridge that gap by highlighting the main issues and suggesting a common ground, some sort of mutual intelligibility for the world of business and the world of technology, focusing on small businesses/startups and web technologies when it comes to the process of software development.

Entrepreneur Showcase Breakfast – Launch of Local Legends program

If you are looking for inspiration to start a business, are keen to learn about what is happening in the local business startup space or are simply looking for inspiration to help take your business to the next level – this event is for you!
Gympie Angels and Angel Loop are working to provide the opportunity for entrepreneurs and innovators in the Gympie Region to access information and assistance to help bring their dreams and ideas to reality. The Entrepreneur’s Showcase event will feature the launch of the Gympie Region Local Legends program, showcase local entrepreneurs and feature live ‘pitches’ from local businesses.
Simon Horne from Angel Loop will work through the reality of pitching business ideas and will also be featuring a showcase company pitching their idea.

Bundaberg Angels Meeting: Postponed

The Generator Bundaberg is pleased to partner with Angel Loop Ltd to present startups who will be pitching for investment at our upcoming Bundaberg Angels meeting.
Investors who are interested in supporting Queensland based startups and incorporating angel investment within their portfolio are invited to attend.
Angel Loop is a special purpose public company formed to encourage more early-stage investment and connecting entrepreneurs to this much needed seed investment. Visit the website for more information.
Bundaberg Angels meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every second month. Booking is essential and attendance is strictly limited to investors.

The Business Basics grants program provides support to businesses to increase core skills and adopt best practice. The Business Basics grant will fund each successful applicant the amount of $5,000 excluding GST.
This support includes funded activities in 5 priorities:
- Training and coaching
- Website build or upgrades
- Professional business advice
- Strategic marketing services
- Business continuity and succession
The program is administered by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT).

Applications are now open for the competitive grant round Boosting the Next Generation of Women in STEM which will award one grant up to a maximum of $41.2 million.
This grant opportunity will run over 7 years from 2021-22 to 2027-28. The program will fund one delivery partner to offer up to 500 university scholarships to women who are re-training, seeking higher qualifications, or undertaking study after a break from either study or the workforce.
To be eligible the project must:
- be aimed at designing, establishing and managing a program to identify sectoral focus areas in STEM
- nominate collaborative industry projects
- award scholarships to high-performing women.
Applications will close at 5.00pm AEDT 7 October 2021.
