About the Generator

Our History

Founded in Bundaberg in 2016, The Generator was first established on the packing floor of the Bundaberg Post Office. In October 2019, we expanded to a second space in the historical Elliot’s Pharmacy building in Gympie.

History of the Clock Tower

The Generator is proud to operate out of a building that has always remained a centrepiece of connectivity and communication for the Bundaberg region.

1879 — The New Bundaberg Post Office was erected on the Corner of Barolin and Bourbong street.
1886 — First telephone exchange opened.
1890 — Existing Post Office and telegraph building opened at a cost of £6000.
1893 to 1925 — The top floor of the Bundaberg Post Office (The Generator’s Mainspace) housed the Australia terminal for the under-sea telecommunications cable that ran via New Caledonia. This laid the foundation for connecting Bundaberg to the world.

our Point of Difference

The Generator is a coworking space and innovation hub that provides an environment for entrepreneurs, start-ups, freelance creatives, remote workers and more to work and collaborate. The Generator offers a variety of membership tiers that cater to the needs of different individuals and also offers meeting room and venue hire. Our hubs are conveniently and centrally located in the Bundaberg and Gympie CBDs and bring together modern design with heritage spaces.
